In Interactive Forms, you can create categories to help you organize your forms and form sections in meaningful sets. This is especially useful if your channel contains a large number of forms/form sections. The categories that you create apply to both forms and form sections and appear identically in both the "Forms" and "Form Sections" panes. For each category, you can assign a workflow model to it. This means that for each category you can specify which users have which rights to perform specific activities. This is useful for creating a hierarchy of roles and activities at the level of form/form section categories.

Creating Categories

To create a category, follow these steps:

  1. In XPerienCentral, navigate to Configuration > Interactive Forms.
  2. In the Interactive Forms component, navigate to Settings > Categories.
  3. Click [New]:
  4. In the "Name" text box, highlight the text "New Category"
  5. Enter a name for the new category.
  6. In the Workflow section, select whether the forms contained within the new category inherit the workflow defined for all Interactive Forms or select "Define custom workflow" to create a workflow that is specific to the new category.
  7. Click [Apply].
  8. If you selected to create a custom workflow for the category, you can now assign roles to activities that are specific to this category of forms/form sections.

In both the "Forms" pane and the "Form Sections" pane, the new category is now shown. Categories are listed from top to bottom in alphabetical order. The "No Category" tree, containing non-categorized forms always appears below the list of categories. Next to the name of each category, the number of forms/form sections contained in that category is shown. In both examples below, the category does not yet contain any forms/form sections — this is indicated by the "(0)" to the right of the category name:
